Carving Vessels in Stone - Aug 29 & Sept 12

Try your hand at carving simple vessels in soapstone!

Make your own bird bath, bowl, planter or decorative vessel in soapstone using hand tools. In two Saturdays, August 29 and September 12, from 2-4:30pm, learn the basic tool handling to remove stone and shape a smooth surface, all in the process of carving your own vessel in locally-sourced Virginia Soapstone. 

No stone carving experience necessary or required!

(blocks typically weigh 10-30lbs depending on the ambition of the student!)
