The Movement of Mitsuro - September 26-27

The Movement of Mitsuro - September 26-27

Enter the world of Mitsuro Hikime!

Teachers: Alec Jackson & Tavia Brown
This traditional Japanese jewelry-making technique which literally translates to "drawing honey texture with beeswax," involves creating a special recipe of beeswax and pine resin to form a golden substance that can be stretched into beautiful, sinuous curves. These forms are then cast in metal to be worn as jewelry or appreciated as miniature sculptures.

The first day, students will learn from Alec the recipe for mitsuro and then be taught the techniques used to create its organic lines and shapes. On the second day of class, Tavia will guide students in the casting of their pieces and they will learn from Alec the specific methods of polishing and refining their finished work.

No experience necessary.
